A banker, a lawyer and an accountant…while this phrase sounds like it could be the start of a good joke, these three individuals are vital to every successful business owner.
If you are just starting a business, this trio of professionals will help you with your launch. Don’t start without them as they will prove to be value assets to your company.
Talk to local bank business managers – the ones who work with small or start-up businesses. Schedule an appointment with them and talk about what your plans are for your business and how their bank can help you.
A lawyer can help you set up and file the proper corporation papers with your state, county and local entities and guide you should you ever need to hire employees; review lease agreements, etc.
An accountant can help you set up an in-house bookkeeping system, recommend software and procedures to make sure you’re meeting tax deadlines, filing the proper employee paperwork and reviewing your cash flow numbers. Sometimes, you’ll find that your lawyer and accountant will overlap in some areas.
Maintain a close relationship with each one and keep them updated with your business growth, problems and needs. All three are great additions to your team.
